Businessman Jean Henri Lhuillier, president and CEO of PJ Lhuillier Group of Companies, was recently appointed to be the Honorary Consul of the Republic of San Marino to the Philippines. The Republic of San Marino is the oldest existing constitutional republic in the world and is an enclave of Italy. The Republic of San Marino, a small European state landlocked by Italy, will be celebrating its national day and honorary Consul General Jean Henri Lhuillier held recently an invitational goodwill tennis tournament featuring club teams from the Philippine Columbian Association, Hillsborough Tennis Club, Manila Polo Club, San Juanico Park, Alabang, Palms Tennis Club, and host club Casa Cumbre Monte Club in Calatagan. The San Marino team, anchored by Lhuillier, figured in a 5-5 tie with the visiting teams from Manila. As part of the celebration of the national day of the Republic of San Marino, an invitational exhibition slo-pitch softball match among players from different club teams, including members of the Blu Boys, was played at the Cebuana Lhuillier field in Calatagan, Batangas, organized by Asaphil president and San Marino honorary consul-general to the Philippines Jean Henri Lhuillier. Philippine Ambassador to Italy and concurrent envoy to San Marino, Phillippe J. Lhuillier, greets the newly-elected Captains Regent Rosa Zafferani II and Federico Pedini Amati I during the Investiture Ceremony held last April 1 in Palazzo Valloni of San Marino. Every six months, the Great and General Council of San Marino elects two Captains Regent as Heads of State. The first Captains Regent were elected in 1243.
